Palante, A Venezuelan Allegory of Symphony No. 5 by Shostakovich - Original Painting on Canvas

Venezuela, my homeland, and its people are going through a horrible time as it attempts to survive under ambiguous political leadership. When I listen to Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5 in D Minor, I cannot help but feel as if this music speaks what may be happening again, similarly, in history. In this painting, I wanted to capture the current state of affairs in Venezuela, translated into a painting, and structured against the Symphony. Each of the three canvases represents one of the first three movements in Symphony No. 5.

This work is painted with professional acrylic paint and pencil on canvas. The painting is sealed with a UV protectant varnish to keep the colors vibrant for its lifetime.  This painting not framed. Each canvas is individually wired for hanging.
