Translation of Nocturne Op. 33 - Homage to John Field Op. 33 (S. Barber) - Acrylic and Paper on Canvas

An original, unique painting by Shany Porras, who translates music into abstract paintings. For this piece, I've pulled from Monet's almost abstract waterlily paintings to mimic what is in Samuel Barber's homage to John Field. Capturing nature's ephemeral beauty, this painting transports viewers into a serene aquatic realm where deep colors and light dance harmoniously.

Samuel Barber's "Nocturne Op. 33 - Homage to John Field Op. 33" pays tribute to the Irish composer's nocturnes. A mesmerizing blend of Barber's distinctive style and Field's romanticism, this piece unfolds with lyrical grace, capturing the essence of nightfall and echoing the emotive nuances that define the nocturne genre. This is one of my favorite pieces, and I am thrilled to have painted this first translation.
