Appalachian Spring No. 8 - Acrylic paint, Washi Tape, Graphite on Canvas
Shany Porras's "Translation of Copland's Appalachian Spring" is a contemporary, geometric abstract painted with a mixture of mediums on canvas. The artist selected media such as acrylic paint, washi tape, paper, and graphite. This 18" x 14" painting explores the relationship between the sharp, straight lines against the "cloudy," metallic background. Copland's rhythmic piece is explored through the rhythm of the vertical lines.
Porras states, "Many of my paintings are translations of orchestral music. For this painting, I translated "Appalachian Spring" to celebrate the rebirth of our nation at the end of a devastating global pandemic. The colors are vibrant and playful and free."
Porras has signed the signed and includes written details, including a serial number on the back. A certificate of authenticity, signed by the artist, is included once purchased. The stretched canvas is wired and ready to hang.
